so life has become just a blur. I have no idea what happened in august, it really did slip away into a moment in time Taylor is always right.
Reading
1. The Betrothed ★☆☆☆☆ // I expected this to be trashy bad but fun because I’m The Selection trash but instead it was just bad bad baaaad and no fun.
2. The Guinevere Deception ★★★★☆ // This was a pretty cool and fun retelling of Camelot.
3. Hunted ★★★☆☆ // This book was fine but boring and unmemorable I swear I’ve already forgotten about it.
4. Outrun the Moon ★★★☆☆// This was okay, the pacing and setup of this book was kinda weird, also kinda boring, but overall a good story.
5. Ace of Shades ★★★★☆ // This book was really good even though Levi is no Kaz Brekker.
6. The Kingdom of Back ★★★☆☆ // Another book that was pretty good but rather boring and unmemorable. Cool concept tho, just I found it dull.
7. This Is All Your Fault ★★★★☆ // This was a super adorable contemporary about booksellers (including a booksagrammer!) saving a bookstore.
8. Far From The Tree ★★★★★ // I loved the family themes and masterful storytelling of this book, really moving.
9. Girl Out Of Water ★★☆☆☆// The main character of this book was so whiny and annoying lmao girl chill.
10. The Rest Of The Story ★★★★☆// I really enjoyed reading about the family, finding family and friends, and the cute summer, although there were some annoying parts.
11. Yes No Maybe So. ★★★★☆// Honestly ask me again how I feel about this book in November. It was cute and sad and moving and motivating. PLEASE VOTE!!!!!!

- I was forced over to the block editor and I hate it I don’t understand it so if I’m grumpy and my posts are messy you know why.
- I’m officially not going back to campus in the fall. I would have been moving out this month… I’m not.
- I’ve been writing a lot, finished a WIP at about 85k so there’s that. made myself a mood board lol.
Let’s Chat
How was your August? Are you going back to campus? Do you hate the block editor too? I’d love to chat in the comments below
UGH YES, I HATE BLOCK EDITOR SO MUCH!!!! It’s super obnxious. I’m so glad I’m not the only one. I also found Outrun the Moon to be kind of boring. I had to DNF it for the time being because I couldn’t get into it. I hope I can finish it one day! I also love how you mention other bloggers posts! I always find amazing new blogs 😀

The block editor is trash out to ruin our lives tbh. I had such high hopes for Outrun the Moon but was like…snooze lol. Thanks, I love sharing my favorite blogs ❤

The strange thing about the block editor for me at least it’s gotten buggier the more I use it! I thought it was just me but I’ve noticed a lot of people recently saying they’ve had more issues 😦
Have a good September!

I’m on self-hosted WP so I haven’t been forced over to the block editor thanks to a plugin I have, but one time I tried using it and just couldn’t deal with it. I’m too impatient to even give it a chance, haha 😅

Ever since I started blogging I have used the block editor only, because that I guess was the default and I never really knew that another editor existed. I think the one thing that I really hate about block editor is I can’t apply styles/colours to more than one block at once and that irritates the hell out of me, other than that it is fine for me I guess.
And I really need to read Far From the Tree!

That’s probably a good thing tbh lol I’m so used to the classic editor I canNOT switch rip. Far from the free is wonderful 💕

Thank you for including my post Kay! Seems like you had an amazing month. I totally agree with you on The Kingdom of Back, I thought the same when I read it. I hope September is just as good for you!

Great wrap-up, Kay 😊 I agree, the whole of the last six months has felt like a blur at times! I’m glad you read some great books in August and wow, congratulations on your WIP!
I’ve heard literally no positive comments about the block editor, it’s unfair on WordPress to force it on everyone. I actually don’t use it – I write all my posts in WP admin, which is possibly less versatile but more user-friendly ☺
Have a wonderful September!

Thanks Stephen 🙂 the block editor is… a time lol I’m trying.

Thanks Sara ❤️ haha I didn’t write for the full school year, I just started writing again in June for the first time since last September and will probably do the same now… so opening ur wip in January is still okay!! Hope you have a great September too 🙂

Love that moodboard, I’m sure your WIP turned out amazing!! 85K words is A LOT you go girl!!!! I’m sorry you didn’t find The Kingdom of Back as interesting, I think its highlight is definitely the sibling relationship (which I really enjoyed reading). LOL “This book was really good even though Levi is no Kaz Brekker.” 😂

Thanks 🙂 I definitely liked that sibling relationship too, the saving grace in a boring book lol. and yess I’m sorry I want to separate them but kaz brekker lives rent free in my brain and the comparison had to be made lmao

Sounds like you had a pretty good month! I have also read Far From the Tree and I also really enjoyed it. This is All Your Fault sounds really good I hope I can read! I hope you have a wonderful September🙂

I had been planning on reading The Betrothed as fellow Selection trash but then became skeptical after reading the summary. I think the only reason I love The Selection as much as I do is because the author really hit the jack pot in terms of characters. Thanks for the helpful mini review; it sounds like I dodged a bullet lol.

The Betrothed was like all the bad parts of Selection with none of the good parts lol, plus a healthy dose of bad pacing, instalove, terrible world building… I’ll just go reread selection for maxon haha ❤

This is such an unpopular opinion but I love the block editor?? I find it so much easier to format posts haha.
You also read so many books in August and I’m glad they were mostly pretty high ratings! I’m reading the second book in the Shadow Games series at the moment (I finished book 1 Ace of Shades a couple days ago) and it’s so good!! Definitely agree that Levi is a wannabe Kaz Brekker but I do love him. I think he’s just a softer version. Love the series though and even though I have yet to finish book 2, I’m excited for book 3 later this year!
Yes No Maybe So I’ve also read and really enjoyed! I think I gave it the same rating as you but it was so cute and I loved the politics aspect too.

That is an unpopular opinion lol maybe one day I’ll grow to love it but for now… I scream in my head. I can’t wait to read the rest of the Shadow Games books glad you’re liking! haha I didn’t want to make the comparison but… Kaz Brekker is always on my mind it can’t be helped lmao.

Unpopular opinion alert: I actually love the new block editor??? Okay, hear me out – it was a HUGE inconvenience at first but the more I practiced, the more I was able to wrap my head around it. Now, I find it a LOT easier to edit and style my posts. I hope you get the hang of it soon!
And a HUGH congratulations on finishing your WIP! I’ve actually spent this lock down planning and outlining my own WIP and I’ve just recently started writing. While I can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel yet [LOL still perfecting my hook], if you can do it so can I!
Also, can we please talk about the fact that you were managing your blog, attending online classes in your first year of college and STILL found time to write a 85K WIP??? GIRL! YOU ARE ACTUALLY AMAZING!!! 🙌🙌🙌
And I’m in LOVE with your mood board! Am I detecting a Swan Lake vibe??? 😉
Hoping you have an amazing month, Kay! 💙💙💙

Agh that is an unpopular opinion. I… hate it very much I’m mentally screaming whenever I use it I cri why is it so confusing but I’m glad you got the hang of it, it gives me hope that I’ll be able to crawl out of this hole of frustration lol.
Thanks 🙂 Lol I’m 100% a pantser not a plotter and just kind of… sat down and wrote. Mostly word vomit, kind of incomprehensible, wasn’t entirely sure what was going on with the world building until like 50k in haha so you planning and outlining your WIP seems amazing to me and I’m sure the storyline you have is amazing! you can do it!!
thanks!! not swan lake, but there is a bit of fairy tales 😉 also speaking of fairy tales I finally watched Hunchback of Nortre Dame and… *hides face* didn’t really like it? I mean, it was fine, and hellfire was intense and cool, but overall I felt pretty meh and was also rolling my eyes at the obviously Disneyfied ending (not me thinking Esmerelda shoulda stayed dead lmao why do I like such dark stuff??)
hope you’re having a great month too ❤

HAHAHA – basically the DEFINITION of an unpopular opinion! I swear I’m like the ONLY person on wordpress who loves the new editor!
And oh I can 100% relate to being a complete and utter pantser. I think it’s like reading a new book when you just free-ball it. You gradually discover the story. Unfortunately though, that’s the reason why all my dang books are incomplete – I always hit a roadblock sooner or later. I think with this WIP I’m working on, I just had to roll up my sleeves and do those hard yards. Trust me – no one was more surprised than me when I finished an ACTUAL outline! 😉
And oh man… I’m so EMBARRASED you didn’t like Hunchback after I raved and raved about it… *Face palm*. I guess it’s an acquired taste…??? I think I just love the idea of Nortre Dame and the mood. Also, it’s pretty dark for a Disney film [despite the VERY Disneyfied ending LOL!] which I love.
Sorry it took me so long to reply to your comment! 💙

You read so much in August, I’m in awe! And yes, Miss Swift was indeed correct when she said that the month would be gone in no time at all.
Your wip moodboard looks amazing ❤ also 85k is so impressive. I’m hoping nanowrrimo will give me the motivation to get back into writing rather than just planning my novel 😂

Looks like you had a great reading month! I really enjoyed The Rest of the Story too. I feel like it had a lot of classic Sarah Dessen vibes, whilst some of her other later books haven’t been as good.
Congrats on finishing your WIP! That’s amazing!
And that sucks about the block editor! I actually just escaped it in time as I switched from blogging on WordPress to Squarespace, but I’ve seen what it looks like, and I’m not a fan!
Have a great September!

Btw your wip sounds amazing and ah I also may have a way to go back to the classic-classic editor if you were interested 👀
