Top Ten Tuesday is a book blog meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s prompt is Books I Loved But Will Never Reread. Honestly, my thoughts are if I loved a book why wouldn’t I reread?? I know some people don’t reread because of the monster TBR, but I love rereading and catching new things every time. So this list is more books I liked, because if I loved it you can bet I’ll reread it 😉
1. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte: I liked this book! Surprisingly! But also it’s really long and I didn’t love it and it took me forever to read and I didn’t like it enough to want to devote so much time to it again.
2. The Secret Life of Sparrow Delaney by Suzanne Harper: I loved this one! So much that one day I wanted to reread it and went to the library to check it out again but it was… gone!!! Idk what they did maybe sold it used or something but it’s not in my library anymore 😦 And while I liked it, I didn’t like it enough to buy since I’m super stingy about book (or anything) buying haha.
3. The Long Game by Jennifer Lynne Barnes: Can I just say that I feel betrayed by this one??? It ended on a gigantic massive humongous all the feels rip out my heart cliffhanger and then I learn that there isn’t going to be a sequel???????? I can’t put myself through that pain again for that horrible death ending.
4. The Faerie Path by Allan Frewin Jones: I have a soft spot for this as it was one of the first ever faerie (not fairy!) books I read, and now I’m obsessed ❤ Buuuut it’s a 6 book series and I read it so long ago I don’t remember it that well so I’m not up for that long commitment anymore.
5. Fated Series by Alyson Noel: This series was pretty good. I was going through a faze where I really liked Alyson Noel, and I read this entire series and The Immortals in a year. Looking back on what those books are about, I’m don’t think I would really enjoy them if I read them now.
6. Twilight by Stephanie Meyer: Hear me out, this was a book I loved (past tense), but don’t love (present tense) anymore xD I think it’s pretty self explanatory; I thought it was good in middle school and definitely don’t anymore.
7. Allegiant by Veronica Roth: Okay yep I didn’t love this one. However, I did love the first book of the trilogy, Divergent, and liked it well enough at the time. However, I’ve tried to reread parts of it since then, and I don’t even mind the ending that much, it’s just that it’s the finale of a huge trilogy and it’s 90% boring exposition???
8. Haven by Kirsti Cook: I loved this one when I read it when I was in sixth grade. Looking back, I’m pretty sure it’s a knockoff Twilight paranormal romance, and don’t really want to reread.
9. Pretty Little Liars: Guys. There are 18 books in this series. And I read them all. Dedication. Dedication that I don’t have anymore to go through I mean how does one simply stick with a series for 18 books?? And I don’t even watch the show lol so that wasn’t the motivator.
10. Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen: Liked this one a lot! But again, it’s really hard and slow to get through classics and I didn’t like it enough to want to reread haha. I’m content with just rereading Pride and Prejudice ❤
That’s my TTT for the week? Thoughts? Comment below and I’ll be sure to check out your TTT as wekk 🙂
I didn’t even think of the Divergent books, but I probably won’t read those again even though I LOVED them!

I totally agree with you on Allegiant. For me, I feel like the more I think about the Divergent series, the less I like it? IDK I kinda sorta read Veronica Roth’s latest novella that took place after Allegiant AND IT MADE ME SO ANGRY. (So that’s probably why I keep lowering my ratings for these books 😂)

Wow I didn’t even know it existed but I just googled and 2.8 stars average on Goodreads that is REMARKABLE. Definitely won’t be reading haha

IK I couldn’t believe it when I saw the average rating 😂

I tried reading Wuthering Heights twice, but it’s so dang confusing. I think I will give it ONE more try before I truly give up.

Haha I feel you. I read it for a class and was HOPELESSLY confused for the first three chapters until my teacher spent an entire period explaining them all xD And ofc I have Sparknotes to thank for my comprehension 🙂

Oh no! “The Long Game” doesn’t end happily!? That’s a duo I’ve been meaning to read, but haven’t yet. Someday I do hope to discover some of Jennifer’s books as they sound entertaining. 🙂
Thanks for visiting Finding Wonderland.

No it doesn’t and I’m so sad! I really loved the book but the ending was NOT closure!

I “read” Wuthering Heights for a class and I remember being really disappointed by it. I’d built it up in my mind for some reason! I ended up skimming it for references to the seven deadly sins for a paper where I basically pulled random threads together into something semi-coherent xD
Allegiant is the worst ending to a series that I’ve ever read. It was boring and the characters weren’t acting like themselves. I haven’t read PLL but I watched the series and was so angry about the ending that I’ll probably never check out the books! 18 is also a lot! Cool list!

Haha I know what you mean by “read” something for a class xD @aTaleOfTwoCities. and YES I was so let down by Allegiant! I heard the PLL books are pretty different from the show but still wouldn’t recommend an 18 book series unless you LOVe it haha

Wow that’s a serious bummer about The Long Game! No sequel? And I never did finish Allegiant. I’d like too just for completists’ sake. Also, I had no idea there were 18 books in the Pretty Little Liars series? Yikes!

Yess the lack of sequel is hurting my heart 😦 Good luck with Allegiant 🙂

I don’t think I’d reread Allegiant. I didn’t hate it as much as most did, but it’s not the best ending for me. Great list!

Twilight is such a good one for this list as I think so many readers loved it at the time but see how problematic it is. I can’t believe you read all of the PLL series! That IS dedication!

Yep Twilight definitely has a place here 🙂 and I kNoW I’m amazed with myself I would never do that now haha

I’ve never reread much science fiction or fantasy. I mainly reread when a book I’ve already read appears on our list for book club and I want to think about it more carefully.

I didn’t mind Allegiant, but after the other two it was such a let down to the series. I want to reread them, but I probably never will because of Allegiant.

Ikr! I really loved Divergent and was so sad by the lackluster ending 😦

I so agree with Allegiant! Divergent was definitely the best book in that series, but Allegiant was not my cup of tea.

I remember how mad I was reading Allegiant. I wasn’t a huge fan of the trilogy as a whole, but I ended up describing Allegiant to friend as 10 good chapters placed haphazardly among 50 useless and boring chapters.

Haha that sounds like a PERFECT way to describe the book!

Allegiant was on my list this week too-like you, I didn’t even mind the ending, it was the rest of the book that was the problem!

OMG at The Long Game. How can they end a book on a cliffhanger and not resolve it in a sequel? UGH.
I enjoyed Twilight for what it was when it came out – before all the massive hype. After that I just don’t think I could ever go back.
Now, the ending of Allegiant upset me a LOT. But I’m an emotional wreck anyway, so that could have been the reason. Hahaha.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!

yES my heart is still in pain from Long Game :((( haha I wasn’t too sad about the ending to Allegiant since I was spoiled a loooong time before I picked up the book, and was just so annoyed by the entire book in gerenal xD

Completely agree about Twilight! I’m in the same boat. I loved it so much then.. now, not so much!

I started reading the Fated series years ago, but never finished it. I have all the books, but I’m not sure I would enjoy reading them now. Also, 100% agree with Allegiant! Not a book I could ever reread.

Yeah Allegiant was a… let down 😦

You totally got me for Pretty Little Liars. I am seriously amazed how you stuck to the whole series 😀 I am afraid of series. I prefer standalone 😛 Though I am a fan of the TV series, I can’t imagine myself reading the books.
I can’t re-read books. Whenever I think of re-reading anything, my horrible TBR comes to my mind 😀 So I twisted my today’s topic.

Wow, bowing down to your 18-book dedication to PLL!! I don’t think I could do that!! And I loved Wuthering Heights too, it’s one of my all-time favorites… but I reeeally have to be in a certain mood to attempt rereading it, haha.

I actually don’t re-read all that much… The dreaded TBR sure is one factor but another one is the little time I have to devote to reading already! No chance of re-reads, unless I’m super obsessed with the book in question. I’m sorry to hear you didn’t absolutely love Wuthering Heights! It’s one of my favourites (if not favourite) and one of those I’ve actually re-read many times (though not always completely, I enjoy reading my favourite scenes with my favourite characters especially).
Either way, awesome post! 🙂

I remember liking Wuthering Heights in High School and I recently tried to listen to it on Audiobook (because most classics have free audiobooks!) but I just couldn’t get interested. And I agree with Allegiant. I loved Divergent but I hated the series ending.

Twilight would also be on mine. That said, I haven’t read it since I was maybe 15 or so, and I imagine reading is an adult would be quite funny.

But….Jane Austen!
Having just watched the Emma Thompson/Alan Rickman version last night, it is unthinkable to me that you don’t want to reread it! But then the rational part of my brain jumps in and says “Ummm….you haven’t reread it either, so…” and I realize that I probably agree with you. Thanks for a fun list!
