Hey loves! Top Ten Tuesday is a book blog meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl! This week’s prompt is Bookish Discoveries I Made In 2019. I’ve decided to do New Authors I Discovered In 2019 because I found so many new amazing ones! Mostly because I used to live under a rock and and everybody else knew about these authors and I didn’t, but shh I know about them now, and also a few amazing debuts!
1. Stephanie Garber
I finally started reading the Caraval series last January, and finished it over the summer when Finale came out! At least I didn’t have to wait! I love her enchanting storytelling, and also the back of my head was in her insta story at Yallwest so I’m cool now.
Books I read: Caraval, Legendary, Finale
2. Sangu Mandanna
I loved reading A Spark of White Fire and its sequel, A House Of Rage And Sorrow, and I absolutely can’t wait to finish the series when the next book comes out!
Books I read: A Spark of White Fire, A House Of Rage And Sorrow
3. Natasha Ngan
Everyone loves Girls of Paper and Fire, and I’m no different! Although I was slightly disappointed by the sequel, I’m still excited for the next book and I loved reading a queer Asian fantasy!
Books I read: Girls of Paper and Fire, Girls of Storm and Shadow
4. Akemi Dawn Bowman
Akemi Dawn Bowman has quickly become one of my favorite authors!! I absolutely love her writing, and her biracial Asian rep is the most represented I’ve ever felt in a book!
Books I read: Starfish, Summer Bird Blue
5. Emily Suvada
I loved This Mortal Coil and This Cruel Design, and I can’t wait for the next book! I absolutely love the intense science fiction and the idea of genetic editing because I’m such a genetics nerd!
Books I read: This Mortal Coil, This Cruel Design
6. Emma Mills
Emma Mills has some super cute books, and they’re so soft and fluffy and enjoyable to read! I especially love the marching band story in Famous in a Small Town!
Books I Read: Famous In A Small Town, First & Then, This Adventure Ends
7. Margaret Rogerson
I’m so obsessed with Sorcery of Thorns!! It was my second favorite read of 2019 and I just love it with all of my heart!! I definitely need to go back and read An Enchantment of Ravens!
Books I Read: Sorcery of Thorns
8. Casey McQuiston
Like literally everybody in the whole bookish world, I absolutely loved Red, White, and Royal Blue, and am super excited to read anything else McQuiston writes!
Books I Read: Red, White, and Royal Blue
9. Roshani Chokshi
I adored reading The Gilded Wolves!! I tried another of Chokshi’s books and didn’t really like it, but I still love her as an author and can’t wait for the Gilded Wolves sequel!
Books I Read: The Gilded Wolves, The Star Touched Queen
10. Erin Hahn
I love Erin Hahn’s writing and the way she infuses music into her story, which I love so much! So excited to read anything else she writes!

I don’t know any of these authors, but I’ve heard lots about the McQuiston book – but… it really isn’t my thing, I think.
