My Favorite 2019 Blogging Moments Tag // Reviews, Discussions, And More Posts That Have Me Bursting With Pride

So it seems that 2019 is over!! This is crazy and insane! But as I look back on my favorite books, covers, etc, I thought I should look back on my favorite me things–my favorite blogging moments!

And lucky for me, I found this tag over at Smellfoy Can Read! It was created at The Book Corps, and I’m so excited to be doing it!

Also I know that I’m late okay I was going to post this in December but life got in the way and everybody is already done wrapping up 2020 but just let me live okay okay.

What’s Your Favorite Book Review

42201395

  • I love my review of Starfish by Akemi Dawn Bowman because I was really raw in that one in talking about how much that book affected me because of the absolutely amazing representation that I’ve never experienced in any other book.
  • I’m really attached to my review of Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson for two reasons! First because I absolutely LOVE that book and I was just gushing somewhat incoherently and I love rereading that and I can just remember the excitement and how much I loved it! And second because that was the first ever blog tour I participated in and I felt so cool and legit being in it!
  • We all gotta admit to loving rant reviews, and I really enjoyed writing my ranty review of the worst book I read this year, This Is Not A Love Scene by S. C. Meagle. I also got tons of interaction on that post, tons of comments (so admit it you guys like rant reviews too) and I loved replying to those and interacting with people about this book!
  • Finally, I love my review of Supernova by Marissa Meyer! It’s the longest review I’ve ever written, and I raved about how much I loved it while also articulating faults I had with it, and also discussing how it compared to some of my theories and hopes! It’s also the only fully spoiler review I’ve written (there’s also a non spoiler part) because I had so many thoughts I just had to get into spoilers!

What’s Your Favorite Discussion Post?

EF4bzcnXYAEn1jF.jpeg

  • My post on Consumerism and Materialism in the Bookish Community is my most interacted with/viewed post of the year, and I’m so glad because it’s the one I’m most proud of! I talked about how I don’t buy books or bookish merch and how that makes me feel like I’m not really part of the community sometimes and how it puts pressure on bookish influencers to be able to spend a ton of money, and how not buying into the culture has alienated me.
  • My post on Why I Dislike Required Reading And That’s Okay (A High Schooler’s Perspective)was also one I’m proud of because for a long time I used to pretend to love required reading so I would be accepted, but this was me basically declaring this is what I think, this is who I am, and accept me for it or leave me but I’m done pretending. And it was received really well and I loved opening the conversation on required reading and classics and now book lovers don’t have to love them!
  • My post on how Reading Is My Hobby But Not My Profession was really important to me because I often feel insecure about how I’m a bookworm not at all interested in studying English or Literature, and am instead a science major. I felt really insecure about this and talked about how I’ve felt alienated and torn between communities, and I loved hearing people with similar stories in the comments and felt really reassured and bonded and connected with others after this post!
  • I really liked my post on how I Dislike The Casting of Ben Barnes As The Darkling! He’s way too old, and I stand by that! I was so annoyed at seeing 30 something authors gushing about how happy they were to have an “age appropriate crush” while teens, for whom the books were written, get sidelined yet again, and although many people disagreed with me in the comments (and this wasn’t a particularly popular post of mine anyways), I’m glad I wrote it and shared my opinion.

What’s Your Favorite Fun Post?

IMG_7965.JPG

I would say my favorite fun posts were the post that were sort of like a travel diary? The post detailing events I went to this year:

  • I went to Yallwest! It’s the first ever bookish event I went to and my day was so amazing so I loved writing about how I spent that amazing bookish day, getting highly coveted ARCs and hearing my favorite authors speak at panels, and more!
  • I also went to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood! I wrote about my day and the post ended up being 3000+ words so I split it into two posts, Part One, and Part Two. That day was so magical and I felt like a little kid again living the magic, so I love those posts so much that really captured the magic of the day!

What’s Your Favorite Book Recommendation Post?

I can only think of 1 for this one, so clearly I need to write my recommendation posts! But I love my post on Books Set In Summer To Read In Summer!I love love love summery contemporaries and I love how I divided this post into Beachy Books, Trips and Adventures, and Frozen Treats!

What’s Your Favorite Book/Bookish Photo?

IMG_6863.JPG

For a brief amount of time earlier this year I tried to take bookish photos for header images. Well… I didn’t work out and I don’t take bookish photos mainly because 1) I don’t own any books, and 2) I’m way too lazy. But for that time I did take a few and here’s my favorite, probably because it has a favorite book!

What’s Your Favorite Original Idea/Blog Post?

I’m not too sure what constitutes an original idea… I think my wrap ups of Yallwest, and the Wizarding World, as well as a couple discussions were pretty original, but I already talked about them, so here are some others I love:

  • My list of All 14 YA Books I Own! That’s right I only own 14 YA books, and I remember specifically when I got each one and have specific memories associated with them, and I enjoyed sharing them. This tied into my discussion on consumerism as I was proving to myself that I don’t need to own gigantic bookshelves full to the brim of unread books to love YA!
  • My list of some of my favorite Siblings In YA Books! We’re always gushing about romance so I wanted to share some familial/sibling love for National Sibling Day back in April!

What’s Your Absolute Favorite Blog Post You Wrote This Year?

So hard to choose! Basically all of the posts I’ve mentioned in this post are my favorites!! If I had to choose one right now, I’m thinking it would be my post on Consumerism and Materialism I mentioned above!

Have You Reached Any Blogging Achievements This Year!

Screenshot (56)

  • In April, I reached 1000 followers, which is huge! I’m so grateful and so amazed that  there are more than 1000 crazy people following my crazy posts!
  • I received my first ARC from a publisher this year! I actually don’t receive many ARCs at all… compared at least to what it seems like from how others talk, and most emails I get to publishers get ignored. But although I requested a few ARCs in 2018, I didn’t get any, but this year, I DID and it made me feel really amazing!
