The Library Lover’s Book Tag!

Hey all! I was just recently tagged by Never Not Reading for The Library Lover’s Book Tag! A huge thanks, and make sure you check out her lovely blog!! Considering the library is basically my second home and I just absolutely adore it, I had to do this!!

How often do you visit your local library?

I volunteer at the library so quite often! During the school year I usually go in once a week. And summer just ended 😦 but during the summer I was going 3-4 days a week! I only check out books around once or twice a month though.

Are you the type of person who checks out more books than you can read or are you someone who checks out the exact amount of books you intend to read before they are due?

I intend to read all the books I check out! Sometimes I grab a lot at a time since, with renewals, I can have books checked out for two months! Other times, since I go so often, I’ll only check out a few and go grab new books every week! So it’s not exact, especially since I’m never sure if I’ll read a book right away or renew it twice and wait for the last minute, but I usually do read them before they’re due!

How old were you when you got your first library card?

I have no idea. Five? Six? I had a kids card and was checking out picture books when I was very, very young. I’ve always been a reader.

Do you go to your library for a particular book or do you check out anything that piques your interest?

Both! Before I started blogging, I would just browse and roam around, grabbing whatever caught my interest. Now that I’m a blogger and hear about popular books, I do look for particular books, but I also browse and check out everything that piques my interest because how else are those underappreciated gems going to be found???

Do you only check out books or do you also get DVDs, audiobooks, etc.?

I only check out books. I don’t read/listen to audiobooks, and I get DVDs from Netflix.

From what section of the library do you check out most of your books?

Young Adult! After all, I am a young adult 🙂 I’ve been going to the YA section since I was 12, and no plans to stop anytime soon! Although I spend most of my time in the Children’s Section, just not checking out books!

What is your favorite part of using your local library?

Oh, such a hard question!! Honestly, I just love all parts of my library! The main draw for me has always been the free books, of course! I get pretty much all my books from the library! I’m going to make a guess and say that I read 90 library books last year. If we assume a book costs $15 (and most are more since all these library books I read are hardcover), that’s $1350 a year, and if I read that much for ten years, $13,500. I do not have that kind of money. There’s no way I’d be able to read all these amazing stories without the library!!!

Tag! You’re it!! I’m tagging everyone who goes to the library to do this!!!

  1. Haha, i admire your restraint!
Last time i went to the library (must have almost 20 years ago) i checked out half the library pretty much and then basically drowned in books.
Where i live now i’m not even sure where the nearest library is. I know it’s in the mall somewhere, but how to get there, is a mystery 😀

  3. Buying books is a fancy habit. Have you seen those YouTubers with their bookshelves full of books? They must have like a hundred or so, those books must have costed a fortune. Geez.

For me, I usually borrow books from the library. I only buy my favorite books to put them in my collection. I can not stand buying a book that I’m not sure whether I’m going to like it or not. What if I hate it and it ended up sitting on my shelves and I have to look at it every single day? I would be filled with regret.

So have you ever regretted buying a book? I know I have, it’s a very beautiful book but its content is really bad. Stupid me, I have been tricked by the cover. :<

  4. I totally agree with the fact that the library can really help people save a ton of money. I’ve calculated and I’m saving about $200 a month by going to the library. If there’s one place I want to live, it will be in a library. Love your post!

  5. Oh my goodness, a tag about libraries exist? I’m putting this on my list of tags to do because libraries have been so influential in my life. I’m lucky to live within walking distance to two (!!!) amazing libraries, and I go at least once a week as well, though not always to check out books. To be honest, when I was younger I used to check out thirty or more books at once… and the librarians would always nod approvingly as I walked past them with a stack of books in my arms 😂 Great tag, Kay!
