Top Ten Tuesday is a book blog meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is Characters I Liked That Were In Non Favorite/Disliked Books! This prompt was really hard for me because the characters are a large part of why I like/dislike a book!
1. Phoebe from The Catcher in the Rye (J. D. Salinger): I’m sorry, I know that it’s a classic, but I just didn’t like this book. The entire thing was just a hypocritical teen angsting about his life, and I already have enough of that with myself xD But Phoebe is so sweet and pure you just have to like her.
2. The Brothers from Eliza and her Monsters (Francesca Zappia): I say that I like them but I can’t even remember their names… I didn’t like Eliza so I didn’t really like the book and therefore can’t remember it that well, but I do remember loving her two younger brothers!
3. Reth from Paranormalcy (Kiersten White): I couldn’t deal with these books because everyone felt so flat and the main character annoyed me so much. But I did like Reth! (Much more than the other love interest…who had absolutely zero personality…) He seemed so complex compared to everyone else, and so mysterious and cool ❤
4. Sydney Carton from A Tale of Two Cities (Charles Dickens): Let’s be real, isn’t Sydney everyone’s favorite from that book? Reading TOTC made me want to gouge out my eyes but I did like this guy 🙂
5. Kile from The Heir (Kiera Cass): I loved the original Selection trilogy, and then Eadlyn showed up whining is and I didn’t like it anymore…but I did like Kile #teamkile ❤
6. Kilorn from Red Queen (Victoria Aveyard): Ok I read this book so long ago and didn’t really like it so I never read on in the series, but I do remember really liking this guy and being like, what are you doing with those two lame princes let me see more of this guy!
7. Jim from Huckleberry Finn (Mark Twain): I didn’t like this book. I just couldn’t get into it. But at least Jim was as good guy, albit rather hard to understand at times.
8. Finn from Trylle (Amanda Hocking): Although I loved Hocking’s Watersong books, I just couldn’t get into these. And I was really upset about the way the romance ended?? I mean, hello, Finn???
9. Riley from The Immortals: This is probably cheating since Riley is in like 1% of The Immortals, but she has her own series and I love her in that series ❤ ❤
10. The Sirens/sisters from The Siren: I didn’t like the book because the entire premise was based on love, but it was really flat insta-love, and consequently forget most of this book. However, I do remember really loving the relationship between the sisters who cared for each other from this book!
That’s my TTT for the week! Do we have any similarities between our TTT’s? Comment below and I’ll check out yours 🙂
I can’t remember their names either, but I loved the younger brothers in Eliza! ❤️

I can never remember names in books. I can only remember Eliza’s name because it’s on the cover 😁
Great TTT 😊

The Siren’s drove me nuts in “The Siren,” though I will admit despite all the bad reviews/thoughts, I am still interested in finished Kiera’s ‘Selection’ series. 🙂
Happy Top Ten Tuesday.

Haha The Selection definitely wasn’t a great piece of literature, but it’s a guilty pleasure of mine ❤

I don’t know a lot of these characters as I haven’t read the books. I can’t even remember who kilorn is from Red Queen though, the one I have read.
I stopped reading Watersong after the second book because I could not deal with the characters #sorry So i’ve been avoiding Amanda Hocking a bit since.

That’s good to know about Eliza and her Monsters since I want to read that one. At least the brothers are likable?
I vaguely remember liking Jim from Huck Finn too, although I have forgotten most of the book I think.

Good job finding 10 picks for such a hard topic! I was pretty daunted by it when it came through on my TTT submission form, but I thought I should make the person happy who submitted it, and went ahead and put it on the schedule. But it was SO HARD for me to come up with a list because the characters are what make or break a book for me! lol. I don’t usually dislike a book if I liked the characters.

Thanks! It was really hard for me to come up with the 10 picks too, but it was a nice challenge :)) Completely agree that good characters usually make a good book!

The Immortals series was one of the first sires I dug into when I got back into reading and I remember it well. I never read the Riley books (they are on my shelf waiting though). I didn’t like the 2 additional Selection books as much as the original trilogy either but I did enjoy Kile. Great picks! My Top Ten

Haha maybe I like the Riley books more because I read them first 🙂 Yess Kile was the best part of those two Selection books ❤

I loved the brothers in Eliza and her Monsters! I was surprised at how much I loved them but when they stood up for her against their parents, they completely won my heart.

I know, right? I loved them more and more as the book progressed 🙂

Great list!! Although, I loved Eliza and her Monsters! I think I just relate too much. Anyways, I completely forgot about a lot of those books. I really loved the first Selection series but the continuation was horrible.

I enjoyed The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, but Tom Sawyer was definitely more lighthearted and fun. Excellent list!

I love Riley from The Immortals series! I also did like that series, even though I read it so long ago that I honestly can’t remember much about it anymore. Riley’s series was such a cute series though!
